Farmers Select

Farmers Dairies was formed in 1915 by the Navar family and developed into a robust conventional dairy bottling operation that focused on independent markets, food service accounts, military troop issue/commissaries, and schools. At one point Farmers Dairies served all public and private schools and military accounts within 100 miles of El Paso.

Farmers Dairies was sold to Select Milk Producers, Inc. in 2006, and the name was changed to Farmers Select and a new focus to supply the export market to Mexico with gallons and half gallons of fresh milk. Farmers Select is also growing the Class 2 market in the U.S. by producing ice cream mix, yogurt mix, and specialty items for food service.

Farmers celebrated 100 years of service to the Southwest in 2015.


All Farmers Select products are sold to our customers at the Farmers dock, there is no distribution by Farmers. All Class 1 milk, fresh milk in gallons and half gallons, are sold for distribution in Mexico. Milk is distributed by our customers in the States of Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas. The major cities served are Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua City, Monterrey, Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo, and Matamoros. Our Class 2 products are sold in many cities in New Mexico, and West Texas. A special Class 2 item is sold to a large food service processor in Austin, Texas.

Based on export volumes provided by the U.S. Dairy Export Council, 21% of all U. S. Fluid milk and Cream exported to the world Market is processed and sold by Farmers Select. 70% of all U. S. Fluid Milk that is exported to Mexico is processed by Farmers Select. Farmers Select will process 100 trailer loads of gallon jugs and half-gallon jugs of fresh fluid milk each month for export to Mexico.

Farmers Select has been a Safe Quality Food, (SQF) level 3 plant since 2010. An Excellent Rating was obtained on the last audit. SQF is part of the Global Food Safety Initiative which is recognized as one of the leading organizations for third-party food plant inspections. Training, Dedication, and Commitment by Farmers Select Employees are the factors for Farmers Select being one of premier fresh milk operations in the Southwest.
